Of the Multitudes

March 1, 2005

Is it fair fate not to find
The one to break the chains that bind
Of command control fear and duty
Fair not to find that possible beauty
Of a flux that creates a sum larger than its parts
Of emotions that seem too large for just two hearts
I think it sound logic to expect
That of the multitudes, only one is correct
Though there are countless stars on the run
The earth has only one loving sun
So though this life is based on chance
And we walk along in a trance
Working not to live but only not to die
Do we ever pause to ask why?
Searching for that elusive joy that rings
With truth and the smiles she brings
