drawn as close as skin,
I slink through the shadows
leaving no trace of my presence
You shimmer in the distance,
the burnished sheen of stars
and requited love in your eyes,
an oasis of subtle romance
Inky fingers of longing reach out
and I trace an itinerent pattern,
fingers slicing through emptiness
and leaving a searing trail of doubt
Your laughter, light as a tear,
lingers on my cheek
- memories flood the canvas,
frozen deserts & raging fire,
and I disappear…
